Hello.

I have loads of experience in the design and production of print, presentation, and digital materials, including sales, marketing and event collateral; brochures, catalogs, annual reports and ads (both print and digital); brand and logo design; presentations (big and small); basic HTML websites, email marketing, and social media assets.

I have worked with clients at brands like Adweek Magazines, The Advertising Club of NY, Burton Snowboards, CinemaCon, Edelman, Facebook, Fast Company, Good Housekeeping, Gucci, Instagram, NIKE, Reuters, Shakespeare in the Park, and Tricoci Salon & Spa.

When not working, I like to cook, stand-up paddleboard, e-bike through Hood River Valley, snowboard, hike, travel, and volunteer.

I'm Hillary, a Graphic Designer. I'm seasoned, that is creative for, I've been working for a long time. I learned Quark before InDesign existed and taught myself Photoshop and Illustrator 2.0 in a college library computer lab over winter break in 1995 (our classroom monitors were black & white), and I got through 4 years of college without my own computer (My first was a purple iMac when they first came out). Also, you had to "connect" to the internet to get online back then.

I've come a long way since the start of my love affair with graphic design, and have a wide range of experience that spans a diverse range of mediums and industries including sports, finance, publishing, BPO, technology, healthcare, beauty, and more.

My early career was in publishing and print marketing, and early on I worked for a "dot com". Along the way, I acquired skills and learned many tools that keep me up-to-date with the majority of the design requests I receive, from expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, and Keynote (Google Slides too), basic skills in HTML, along with many opportunities to use programs like Squarespace, Shopify, MailChimp, Constant Contact, and Canva, to name a few.

My Early Career

My full-time first job was at International Media Partners in New York City, producing Emerging Markets, the publication of record for world bank conferences — a position which took me to Hong Kong, Geneva, Kiev, Cartagena, and the Ivory Coast. Then I joined graphic design agency Channel Communications, producing print communications for financial firms and the publishing industry. After that, I made a move to work at a "dot com" called Dreamlife, recreating the entire corporate identity as well as online advertising and marketing materials.

I returned to print design as a Promotion Art Director, heading the creative efforts for marketing, events, and sales at Adweek, Mediaweek, Brandweek, Editor & Publisher, and Sales & Marketing Management Magazines.

My last full-time position in NYC before embarking on a freelance career was as an Art Director at Good Housekeeping. At GH, I was responsible for creating an in-house art department for the sales and marketing department, maintaining and enhancing the brand identity through well-designed executions in print and online, and working with the marketing team to create advertiser-focused solutions and the creation of B2B big ideas, presentations, media kits, sell sheets, and event collateral.
